The Croatian assembly adopted a law limiting the wages of local officials including mayors and municipal leaders. According to the law, mayors and local leaders will no longer be able to have higher wages than the deputy prime minister, as was the case for some of them. Croatia limiting wages for local officials The law will decrease the wages of some recording-breaking earners such as Sisak-Moslavina County President Marina Lovric-Mercl, whose wage will be decreased by EUR 958, and Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, whose wage will be decreased by EUR 410. The wages of local officials that are receiving aid from the state budget will be decreased by 20 percent, which will take effect in 15 of 21 counties and more than 200 municipalities and cities.
