Selimi thinks the paper "has not adequately recognized the efforts that the Kosovo government has taken to fight the radicalization of youth and the so-called Islamic State."

In the letter sent as a response to the article, he further noted that "the difficulties faced by Kosovo in fighting radicalization of youth and Islamic State" had been presented accurately.

However, he believes the New York Times did no adequately recognize the efforts of Kosovo government to fight this "scourge."

"The response of my government to the increase in radical interpretations of Islam is strong. New anti-terror laws have enabled for arresting and convicting those who leave to join IS in Syria," said Selimi, and pointed out that "currently less than 60 Kosovo citizens" are participating in the war in Syria - something he described as "a record decline in Europe."
