Biserko "doesn't know why UNESCO bid is opposed"

"By Kosovo's entry into UNESCO cultural heritage would be better protected, and UNESCO is not only culture, but also education and science. The political establishment is not ready to be consequential to what it is doing in Brussels. Well they signed the Brussels agreement," said Biserko.

According to her, "Serbia is not yet aware of how important the regional aspect is for it, for the positioning in the EU."

"Here I mean, above all, the cooperation with Kosovo. It is important that countries in the Balkans are on the same side, which would reduce the meddling of great powers," the Beta agency reported Biserko as saying.

Asked about the relationship between Serbia and Russia, she said it was "disruptive" - "because Russia is, through Serbia, disturbing relations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia."

Dusan Reljic from the German Institute for International Affairs and Security told reporters that Serbia and Russia have a special relationship "due to energy dependency, but also because Russia and China are blocking Kosovo in the Security Council of the United Nations."
