"Caretaker cabinet has no comment on EU sanctions"

"A new government of Serbia will comment on the situation in Ukraine and in Crimea. The caretaker government does not comment on current political events in the world," said the ministry's officials.

EU's decision to impose sanctions against "certain persons, entities and bodies" it said were responsible for misuse of public funds and violation of human rights in Ukraine was joined by non-members such as Montenegro, Iceland, Albania, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Moldova .

Bosnia-Herzegovina has not responded to the request of the EU, because the three-member presidency could not agree on this issue.

The head of the EU delegation in Serbia on Wednesday informed Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkića about EU's stances regarding the crisis in Ukraine.

On the same day, Mrkić met with the Russian ambassador in Belgrade, who delivered a message from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
