"Caretaker cabinet has no comment on EU sanctions"

Serbia did not take a stand on EU's sanctions imposed against officials of the ousted authorities in Ukraine "because the government is in a technical mandate."

Funny excuse. What a nice coincidence that Serbia just had elections.
Joking aside: What do you expect from Serbian politicians? To agree to the sanctions and risk to make Putin angry? Or to agree on Putin's action, i.e. justifying an invasion and annexation of a part of the territory of Ukraine, a sovereign state, with the more or less fabricated reasons to 'protect the minority', while insisting on 'Kosovo je Srbija' ?

Or making a clown of themselves like Dodik did when he was calling the declaration of independence and annexation of Crimea by Russia being in line with international law, while Kosovo independence was unlawful?

Of course serbia will endorse all sanctions against russia. Serbia has become a leader is Kosovo independence movement and that symbolises it has adopted all the views of majority of Europe and US.

The sanctions imposed are against officials of the ousted authorities in Ukraine. No big deal. It would have been extremely awkward had it been on Russian officials! Anyway Vucic has an answer to everything right ?!

Serbia will eventually have to choose sites. This attitude of being happy with both world will not work. In the end Serbia will follow the EU's foreign policy footsteps.

The essence of these meetings was blackmail to Serbia, by the EU. EU want support of Serbia about the EU's position on the crisis in Ukraine. On the other hand, Russia has its own view of the crisis in Ukraine and its position on the Crimea. If we know that some countries in our neighborhood imposed sanctions on Russia, it is certain that pressures to Serbia will increase.

This would be my statement.

Serbia is a neutral country. We will not comment on the internal matters of other countries when they do not directly effect the safety and Security of Serbia. It is our desire that the current problems in eastern europe are resolved peacefully through discussion and diplomacy. We wish to increase our trade in both the eastern and western sphere and we caution our partners that we view a trade war as harmful to the global economy. As such, Serbia has no plans to participate in unilateral sanctions, particularily when they are not mandated by the United Nations Security counsel.
