Another night went by peacefully in northern Kosovo and local Serbs took shifts keeping watch over the barricades during the cold night. In tents, cars and beside fires, local Serbs also spent a peaceful night on the barricades in Zupce, Jagnjenica, Brnjak, Leposavic, Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvecan. Situation in northern Kosovo calm, Serbs still at barricades On Friday, KFOR removed the barricade at Brnjak administrative crossing and Serbs responded by putting up a new roadblock, even bigger than the previous one, on the road from Zubin Potok to Ribarice, next to the very administrative line on the central Serbian side. KFOR Spokesman Uwe Nowicki stated that KFOR would not remove the new five-meter high roadblock, because it was placed on the territory of central Serbia. One lane on northern Kosovo roads has been opened for KFOR vehicles but the international mission is refusing to make full use of this possibility and continues to transport supplies to its units by helicopters. Northern Kosovo crossings Jarinje and Brnjak are still blocked because local Serbs are protesting over the presence of Kosovo customs officers at the two crossings. EULEX is transporting Kosovo customs officers to the crossings by helicopters, which is the reason for Serbs to fully deprive the EU mission of freedom of movement in the northern part of the province. Citizens arriving to northern Kosovo from central Serbia and vice versa can use macadam alternative roads only.
