The Council for National Security has requested from all competent authorities to continue to decisively combat organized crime and extremist organizations. The announcement states that the security situation in the country after the latest outbreak of violence in Belgrade and Genoa has been discussed. Council for National Security meets The Council for National Security met late on Wednesday in Belgrade and its final assessment is that the general security situation in Serbia is stable “despite attempts of these groups to create unrest and instability by using violence”. The Council praised police officers, prosecution and security services for their remarkable involvement and professional conduct, protection of public order, property and citizens’ safety, the announcement further reads. After a comprehensive analysis the Council for National Security concluded that in situations like these police have the right to use “absolutely all legal means in order to protect general safety”. President Boris Tadic is chairing the council and its members include the country's prime miniser, defense, interior and justice ministers, the Serbian Army (VS) chief of general staff, the Security-Information Agency (BIA) director and heads of the Military Security Agency (VBA) and Military Intelligence Agency (VOA). Hooligans clashed with police over gay Pride Parade in Belgrade on Sunday and the European Championship 2012 qualifying match between Serbia and Italy in Genoa was called off after a group of Serbia's supporters caused unrest in the stands.

The Council for National Security met late on Wednesday in Belgrade and its final assessment is that the general security situation in Serbia is stable “despite attempts of these groups to create unrest and instability by using violence”.
