Report highlights need to capture fugitives In a report obtained by Beta news agency on Wednesday, Brammertz says that the arrest of Mladic and Hadzic remains "the most critical area" in Serbia's cooperation with the tribunal and that, based on available information, the Hague prosecution "believes both fugitives are within the reach of the Serbian authorities." "The Serbian authorities have in an adequate and timely manner responded to certain demands for cooperation," especially in ensuring the appearance of witnesses before the tribunal and the taking of steps to keep witnesses safe, the report says. The prosecution continues to monitor the Serbian authorities' efforts to locate the fugitives and is represented at meetings of a Serbian team tasked with this job, Brammertz adds. The report also says that during Brammertz's visit to Belgrade in April and May Serbian officials fully acquainted him with the security services' efforts to track down the fugitives. "Despite certain shortcomings in the most recent search and capture operations, the professionalism of the government's tracking services has generally improved," the report adds.
