"I will vote on Sunday in the European Parliament elections"

What a senseless waste of time...

My country joined €U (a 50/50 result like so many others)in -95 and i have never voted in any of the few opportunities we have to do so. Why?

Because if the €Urocrat politburo doesn´t like the result, you can vote how many times you like (1?3?6 times?) until the desired result is achieved now, is that democrasy to you? For many people from former communist countries it´s just a name change, from Marx to Friedman. For us however it´s worse...

Zoran,

The restrictions imposed on Romanian workers by some EU Member States are only temporary.

In the case of Serbia, many years will pass before Serbs will be allowed to work freely within the EU.

I know that you are also a UK citizen. Did you vote in the elections for the European Parliament?

Zoran

Mircea, my point being that with Romanian restrictions and Serbian privileges there really isn't that much difference in what the average citizen can do.

Zoran,

I would like to inform you that only 10 EU Member States impose restrictions on workers from Romania.

Romanians are free to work in most EU Member States.

On 1 January 2014 all EU Member States will be required to lift the restrictions on workers from Romania.

Also, Romania will join the Schengen Area in 2011 and my country will adopt the Euro in 2014 or 2015.

"Visa liberalisation is the most important aspect at the moment and will allow Serbians to freely travel within the EU but not work, just like the Romanians (who are apparantly EU members?)."

Zoran, who told you that romanians are not allowed to work abroad? We have about 2 millions working in the west, mainly Spain, Italy and Germany. And the last restrictions (mainly UK) will be abolished 2011.

The Hague has demonstrated time and time again that it is biased against the Serbians. It has no problem extending Serbian cases indefinitely just to keep them out of public life or handing out extended sentences to Serbians while acquitting non-Serbians with speedy trials.

We seem to be obsessed with handing over Mladic to unblock the SAA but what is that going to achieve? EU membership is still blocked due to no Lisbon Treaty ratification. This means no new members until the EU sorts itself out.

Visa liberalisation is the most important aspect at the moment and will allow Serbians to freely travel within the EU but not work, just like the Romanians (who are apparantly EU members?). We seem to have met all conditions for this initiative so all the better.

Since the Hague is closing next year there is no point devoting any more effort in capturing the remaining fugitives. It offers us no benefit and wastes already stretched resources and scarce funding. In one year, this will all be over whether they are handed over or not.
