The Democrats (DS) today rejected as "pure lie" a claim that the SAA contains an undisclosed annex that will have Serbia renounce a part of its territory. The DS, headed by President Boris Tadic, said this comment, made by outgoing Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica – who is the leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) – is false. DS "warn Kostunica over dangerous lies" "The DS is warning Kostunica to stop disturbing the public with untruths, slander, lies and usage of vocabulary that is not appropriate considering the office he currently holds," a statement from the party said. The press release said that DSS official Dejan Mihajlovic "once said it is allowed to lie in an election campaign", and added, "obviously, Kostunica has accepted this understanding of democracy." "After so many untruths we are asking Kostunica whether he can still look anyone in the eye?", the DS said, in reference to the DSS leader's victorious 2000 presidential campaign slogan, "Who can look you in the eye". Today, his former allies said they "warn Kostunica that hate speech, slander and marking of political opponents as traitors and Judases can lead to tragic consequences". "Has the 2003 murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic not been a lesson to all of us?", the statement further said. In a separate reaction today, the defense minister in the Kostunica cabinet and DS deputy president Dragan Sutanovac also accused the premier of "telling untruths". "I really don't understand why the prime minister at this point misleads the public and tells untruths. Is it possible that the only things left from the people's coalition policies from a year ago are false accusations and untruths," Sutanovac wondered. He added that the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) was signed in the form in which it was initialed in November last year, "when the government had a full mandate". Sutanovac also said that posters which appeared in Belgrade yesterday, branding Boris Tadic and Bozidar Djelic as enemies of the state, represent a public call to lynch, and that those responsible must face the consequences of their actions. "I am convinced there is political support for these posters and that there is a financier that the police can trace," he concluded.

In a separate reaction today, the defense minister in the Koštunica cabinet and DS deputy president Dragan Šutanovac also accused the premier of "telling untruths".

"I really don't understand why the prime minister at this point misleads the public and tells untruths. Is it possible that the only things left from the people's coalition policies from a year ago are false accusations and untruths," Šutanovac wondered.

He added that the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) was signed in the form in which it was initialed in November last year, "when the government had a full mandate".

Šutanovac also said that posters which appeared in Belgrade yesterday, branding Boris Tadić and Božidar Đelić as enemies of the state, represent a public call to lynch, and that those responsible must face the consequences of their actions.

"I am convinced there is political support for these posters and that there is a financier that the police can trace," he concluded.
