Brussels backs visa liberalization

“An advantage is the fact that every country will discuss repealing visas for Serbia individually, which actually means that, if all criteria is fulfilled, we will not have to wait for all of the countries within the visa regime to make a decision in order for the visa regimes to be relaxed in a package plan,” Milivojević told daily Danas.

“The security of the borders must be taken care of in order to get on the Schengen white list. Without progress in the fight against organized crime and corruption, we cannot hope to get on the white list. The Readmission Agreement is one of the key things that must be implemented, as well as the law for traveling documentation—asylum, visas and the status of foreigners,” Milivojević said.

She also said that stronger cooperation with Europol must exist.

“The deadline which the Serbian Government gave itself for fulfilling all criteria and getting Serbia onto the white list is the end of next year,” Milivojević said.
