The Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade indicted Bogoljub Karić and another 15 persons suspected of defrauding Mobtel of more than EUR 60mn.

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade indicted Bogoljub Karic and another 15 persons suspected of defrauding Mobtel of more than EUR 60mn. Along with Bogoljub Karic, his brother Sreten Karic is one those indicted. Fugitive tycoon indicted The brothers are currently on the run, with Interpol Red Notice issued for their arrest. The Karic brothers and their associates are charged with illegally transfering more than EUR 60mn from the mobile carrier's account to accounts of the BK Group and private individuals, using the control they had over the Mobtel’s Board of Directors. The indictment against Bogoljub Karic and others suspected of abuse of power and causing financial loss to the Mobtel company should show the determination of the state to oppose to all forms of criminal activities that are harmful to all Serbian citizens, said Tomo Zoric, a spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office. He pointed out that "nobody will be spared in a clear and firm intention of the Prosecutor's Office to deal with these types of crime." The indicted have been charged with multiple offenses related to the abuse of office which could result in a prison sentence of up to 12 years. Among other charges, those of "exerting influence over the judicial power" can be found, and the list of defendants includes a former judge of the Commercial Court in Belgrade, Ivanka Knezevic-Kozic.
