Boris Tadic and Bozidar Djelic will be called to testify in the trial of Vladica Simonovic, who has been charged with compromising their security. Judge Dusan Milenkovic rejected the defense’s motion to include statements given by the president and deputy prime minister to the Beta agency as evidence, but adopted a motion to have the two men testify as to how their safety was compromised. Simonovic, the head of an informal organization calling itself “The Serbian Supporters Family”, is accused of compromising Tadic and Djelic’s security by putting up posters on May 2, after the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, with pictures of the two officials with a caption reading “Enemies of the State.” The judge added that Tadic and Djelic would most likely testify via video link. The date of the next hearing will be announced later, once the suspect has undergone a psychiatric examination. Today, the accused did not want to answer any of the judge or prosecutor’s questions, sticking to his earlier statement. “I expect them (Tadic and Djelic), as responsible people, to state that they did not feel hurt or endangered, and that they do not feel that any damage was done to them. In that event, their appearance in court will be unnecessary and this case can be put to rest,” Simonovic’s lawyer Milorad Panjevic said. Simonovic could face a maximum sentence of three years if found guilty.
