The trial of the former chairman of Vojvodina FC, Ratko Buturovic, is due to begin before Novi Sad District Court today. Buturovic, along with four others, has been charged with match-fixing. Trial of Vojvodina FC chairman opens The five suspects were arrested on January 29 on suspicion of offering and receiving bribes in order to fix the result of the Mladost-Vojvodina match. His arrest set off a wave of other arrests in footballing circles, though not related to match-fixing, but embezzlement. Dragan Dzajic, Vladimir Cvetkovic and Milos Marinkovic all spent several months in custody on suspicion of accepting bungs during the transfers of Red Star players to various foreign football clubs, although they have yet to be indicted.
