Economic relations between Serbia and Austria are improving with each year, Mihajlović said at the meeting, organized by the Austrian embassy in Belgrade on Tuesday.

Investments from Austria reached their highest in 2007, when around USD 1 billion came to Serbia, she noted and wished the Austrian investors to have an even better year in 2015.

Serbia's export to Austria rose by almost 17 percent in the first 5 months of this year compared to the same period in 2013, while export dropped by 4 percent, reducing Serbia's trade deficit with Austria, Mihajlović pointed out.

"There are many Austrian investors in Serbia, in the energy, telecommunications, banking, insurance and trade sectors, and the two countries have so far signed ten agreements, so there is no industrial branch where there is no such agreement, providing certain benefits to each Austrian company that decides to invest in Serbia," she remarked.

"They have done an excellent job in noticing and taking advantage of this, and that means a lot to Serbia," she said.

The meeting also included discussions about new investments in Serbia and a new law on planning and construction that should facilitate investments from foreign companies.
