Serbia's balance of payments deficit in the period from January to November 2010 totaled USD 2.47bn which is a 4.2 percent reduction compared to 2009. The decrease in the balance of payments deficit was achieved mainly owing to a dynamic growth in export of goods and services, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce released Thursday. Balance of payments deficit reduced in 2010 The total net inflow of foreign direct investments in eleven months of 2010 was USD 1.03bn, which is a 31 percent drop compared to the same period in 2009. Serbia's balance of trade in services from January to November 2010 was positive, with a USD 21.6mn surplus. The export amounted to USD 3.15bn and import USD 3.13bn, which means that the export-import ratio was 100.7 percent. A modest recovery of Serbia's balance of trade in services is indicated by the data showing that, in the period from January to November 2010, export grew slightly faster (by 1 percent) than import (0.1 percent) compared to the same period in 2009.
