The Serbian government decided that it would be forming a new national air carrier that would be replacing Jat Airways. Jat stated that it would continue to work normally and provide its services to people who need to travel in the coming period. New company to replace Jat Airways Jat announced the new company, which the government announced would be formed, would take some of the employees and resources of Jat, but would also be free of any debts, which would make it attractive to potential strategic partners. Jat announced that it would help to make sure that the founding of the new company would be as effective and fast as possible. The new company would be founded with a minimal monetary deposit, and would take over from Jat the resources that could be interesting to potential private investors. “It is important to mention that this is a very serious and complex process that demands for some time to pass in order to be implemented in a satisfactory way and in the best interest of all parties that are involved,” the company stated. Jat states that the company must accept and implement every decision of the government, as the owner of the company capital, adding that the company’s administration would be helping to make the founding of the new company easier and faster. “We are informing travelers, employees, business partners, creditors, and all those who are tied to Jat Airways in any way, that the national air carrier would be working regularly and normally in the coming period,” the statement adds. The company stated that it would continue to improve its services, a tactic which helped “contribute to Jat being named the fifth most punctual European air carrier in January.” “The number of Jat Airways passengers on flights in March increased by five percent in relation to the same month last year,” the statement added.
