All ministries of the Serbian government have forwarded their drafts for decreasing the number of state employees. All ministries and organizations, especially government services, submitted their proposals by December 31, in order for a law for determining the maximum number of employees in the state administration to be implemented. Redundancies announced "in all ministries” The exact number of employees being made redundant will be known in about two months, once the personnel service and the Finance Ministry process the systematization and make the needed decisions. The law limits the number of employees working in the state administration, and will decrease the total 30,624 workers by 2,224, which is 7.26 percent. The government added that it expects that about 1,500 people will be let go from ministry positions, since the ministries can employ a maximum of 28,400 people. The law decreases the number of part-time employees at a time, those working under contracts for temporary or on-call jobs, those employed through youth or student associations, to a maximum of 10 percent of the full-time employees. The current number of people working for a fixed amount of time (not including interns) is about 3,400, and the law calls for that number to be decreased by 560.
