He will write the next report on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija about respect of human rights, the rule of law, and achieving the CoE standards, the Serbian National Assembly has announced.

Roca has been elected to the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in a secret ballot. Running against him was Mogens Jensen from Denmark.

According to the head of the Serbian delegation, Marija Obradovic, Roca was elected after the Serbian delegation managed to challenge the candidacy of Jensen - "who has repeatedly expressed his bias in the previous period, meeting the demands of the delegation of the parliament of Kosovo and Metohija, by which he indisputably brought himself into a conflict of interest, regarding this report."

The deadline to produce the PACE report on the situation in Kosovo is two years.

When it comes to developments in Spain and the Catalonia case, the newly elected PACE Vice President Obradovic conveyed to the Political Committee Serbia's position on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain.

"The position of Serbia is to strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain. We believe that external interference in the internal affairs of Spain is not acceptable. Serbia knows best what kind of damage can be caused by making exceptions in respecting territorial integrity and international law, because the precedent was set precisely in the case of Kosovo and Metohija," she stressed, and recalled that a departure from international law in the case of Catalonia would pave the way for similar crises in Europe and around the world.
