A suspect was also arrested in the case, the MUP announced.
A man identified as Veljko Đ. has been detained on suspicion that he stole the locked bicycle left outside the Ušće shopping mall in New Belgrade.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić himself delivered the news on Sunday, when he explained that the suspect, a native of Belgrade's Borča suburb, will be detained for 48 hours and likely charged with grand larceny.
Meanwhile, Ryu Asaji will be able to continue his 20,000 km trip on his pricey Panasonic OSC7, "which can be bought only in Japan", said Tanjug.
Asaji said this was his second trip around the world on a bicycle. He traveled through North and South America and Australia from 2006 to 2008, covering 44,235 km.
