This report doesn't make clear just much how Dacic used this theft to promote himself in the media. Whilst I'm happy that the guy got his bike back its sickening the way Dacic took complete personal credit for its return.

But its ok in a way, if Dacic is going to take complete credit for a victory, he should take the complete blame if Serbia does not get rid of organised crime and so much corruption. I mean it couldn't possibly be that a bicycle stolen by a lowlife nobody is more important than the millions being stolen from corrupt politicians and businessmen?

What people seem to be forgetting is that the bike thief almost certainly had no idea whose bike this is, or what the bike was being used for. It wasn't especially malicious ("Take THAT, adventurous Japanese bike rider!"), just another petty crime committed by a petty moron. Not saying the thief was in the right - far from it. But keep some perspective here, people. And all's well that ends well, which makes for a pleasant change.

The Japanese have gone through hell as a people in the last few years. Also, in the recent past they have been an extremley generous financial donor to Serbia. Im sure this thief knows little of the reality that surrounds him. He should be punished appropriatly, do a few months in jail and he should be made to personally apologize to the victim in this theft. But here gos Ivica Dacaic again, he returns the bike to the man and gives him a few bottle of booze-somewhat innapropriate. Serbia has been drunk long enough-time to wake up. Personally I have been lucky enough to have known quite a few Japanese in my life, they as a people are the personification of honour and Serbs have much to learn from them.

Let's not get out of hand here. The guy stole a bike. Nothing more, nothing less.
There are plenty of people the police could arrest in Belgrade.
There are war criminals, there are dirty politicians, child molesters and other criminals.

Good work, Serbian police. This is a disgrace, and a black eye for Belgrade, that someone would steal the bike of a foreigner traveling through Serbia. Please, put this guy in jail for a while, so he can consider his actions, and motive.
