The bill, which was adopted on Thursday, will be rushed through parliament by the end of January, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning announced earlier.
The adoption of the bill will simplify the procedure for obtaining building permits, facilitate the land expropriation on the pipeline route and other works related to South Stream, which has been defined as a project of public importance.
The construction of the international gas pipeline, South Stream, began on December 7, 2012, near the Black Sea coast in Russia, and works on a 410 km long section across Serbia are due to start in the first quarter of 2013.
The first phase of South Stream should be completed in 2015, and should bring Serbia revenues of around EUR 200 million.
The pipeline construction across Serbia has been priced at EUR 1.7 billion.
The entire gas pipeline should be finished in 2017, and will have an annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters.
Is this pipeline through Serbia going to be above or below ground? Is it going to be easy for Serbia to provide gas to Serb areas in Montenegro and Bosnia?this is a great deal for Serbia but a stupid miscalculation by Ukraine and Belarus which were too greedy and forced Russia to unnecessarily spend billions of dollars on constructing new pipelines with different complicated routes.
