NOVI SAD European Parliament Rapporteur for Visa Liberalization Tanja Fajon says the future of Serbia’s visa-free regime depends on the most responsible politicians. “Pressure of Germany and some other states is getting stronger, primarily due to large numbers of false asylum seekers from Serbia,” she told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik. Visa-free regime "depends on Serbian authorities” Fajon also confirmed that “there is a threat” that Serbia and Macedonia’s visa-free regime could be “reconsidered”. She said that a mechanism for temporary suspension of the visa-free regime could be established by the end of the year and added that it had taken a lot of effort for Serbia to get the visa-free regime and that she hoped that it would not be jeopardized. “A possible decision on a temporary suspension of the visa-free regime for Serbia or a return to the ‘black list’ cannot be made just like that over night,” Fajon pointed out.
