Serbia and Montenegro have signed the Extradition Treaty. Serbian Justice Minister Snezana Malovic and Montenegrin Ambassador to Serbia Igor Jovic signed the treaty last night in Belgrade. Malovic has confirmed to B92 that the treaty becomes effective the moment it is signed, meaning last night. She also said that it had been signed before the envisaged date due to investigations which were under way and which had already led to arrest of certain persons. “I expect that we will have results soon, more specifically that first extraditions based on this will soon follow,” the justice minister explained. She points out that extraditions are possible in cases of organized crime, corruption, crimes against humanity, money laundering and other serious criminal acts for which the law envisages sentences of five and more years in prison.
