Clashes that broke out between hooligans and police last night in Belgrade left 46 people injured, none seriously. The incidents took place when groups of hooded likely football hooligans attacked riot police officers near the scene of a SRS-organized rally of support for Hague indictee Radovan Karadzic. No serious injuries in clashes last night Belgrade's Emergency Center confirmed that they treated 25 policemen and 21 civilians by 23:30 CET Tuesday evening. MUP Police Directorate chief Milorad Veljovic could not say how many persons were detained during and after the clashes, and added that those who attacked his officers were being identified. Veljovic did says that three persons who broke the windows on a MacDonald's restaurant had been arrested. Acting State Prosecutor Slobodan Radovanovic told the state television RTS last night that his office was analyzing the incidents in order to press charges against those guilty of causing the disturbance. "We are considering the possibility of taking legal measures toward the direct perpetrators, and all others, who are in any way connected to what happened," Radovanovic was heard as saying. Meanwhile, Beta news agency says that one of its reporters in the streets last night, Milos Djorlijevski, was hurt when police officers repeatedly hit him on the head with batons, although he says he identified himself first. A Spanish cameraman, Oscar Martinez Forcada, was also lightly hurt when two unidentified men attacked him, damaging his camera.
