BELGRADE Caucus chiefs' meeting to discuss the future of the Parliament has been scheduled for Monday. The Democratic Party (DS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) confirmed their presence, stressing they hadn’t yet agreed who would preside over the next parliamentary session Caucus chiefs to meet Monday Caucus chiefs of the Serb Radical Party (SRS), Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and G17 Plus are also expected to attend the meeting. The Decree on interim financing of the Republic of Serbia for January-June 2007 that the caretaker government adopted Thursday, regarded by many as illegal and illegitimate, comes into force at midnight Sunday. The Democrats demanded Friday that Borka Vucic, the eldest deputy who presided over the first part of the inaugural session of the Parliament, immediately schedule its continuation so as to elect the temporary speaker, form parliamentary committees and amend the Budget Law. DS caucus chief Dusan Petrovic said his party would in caucus chiefs’ meeting Monday insist on an urgent session of the parliament so as to put an and to a “counter-Constitutional state financing.” He said that the DS expected the session be held Saturday and finished by midnight Saturday, voicing dissatisfaction that other parties failed to react accordingly. “By adopting the dubious Decree, the caretaker government did not only violate the Constitution, but managed to envisage funds to be spent in the first half of 2007 that exceed the limit set by the Budget Law by as many as EUR 500mn,” Petrovic argued.
