VALJEVO B92 Fund representatives visited General Hospital in the western town of Valjevo on Friday and delivered two new baby incubators to the Neonatology Ward. One of the incubators was donated by famous Serbian football player Dejan Stankovic, while the other one was donated by the B92 Fund. Two baby incubators donated to Valjevo hospital General Hospital’s Deputy Director Dr Miroslava Plecic thanked the B92 Fund and Stankovic for their donation and pointed out that thousands of babies in the Valjevo region would now have much better health care. “You can see yourself that the situation is not great. Despite great efforts of the hospital staff, lives and health of our babies are threatened by worn out machines and lack of various kind of equipment. It is very important that people understand that every donation means a better chance for babies to survive and be healthy,” Plecic said. The hospital’s Maternity Ward needs a reanimation table, vital functions monitors, a pulse oximeter, a transcutaneous bilirubinometer, glycemia testing equipment etc. Coordinator of B92 Fund’s Battle for Maternity Wards campaign Ilir Gasi reiterated that Stankovic had previously already donated two incubators. “Dejan Stankovic is a world famous sports fighter and we are very grateful to him for bringing his feistiness to this front as well. We watch little babies come to the world in the first days of 2013 and we are sure that their desire to live will inspire new fighters to join the campaign and fight with us until the last piece of equipment is secured,” he stressed.
