VRSAC Only fifteen days after the Battle for Maternity Wards campaign started, Vrsac General Hospital is no longer on the list of hospitals that need new equipment. The donation represents the first official victory in the campaign that is a follow up of the Battle for the Babies campaign. New equipment donated to hospital in northeastern town Medical equipment in the amount of about EUR 60,000 was donated by Milan Popovic who has already donated over EUR 250,000 to the campaign for the acquisition of 23 new incubators, out of which three were delivered to the hospital in Vrsac, Popovic's hometown. Accompanied by the B92 Fund representatives, Popovic visited the Vrsasc hospital and handed over equipment to this maternity ward and neonatology unit within. The donated equipment consists of two delivery tables, two CTG devices, a reanimation table, a babytherm, a vital functions monitor, three phototherapy lamps, three sets for reanimation and five proctometers for oxygen bottles. Vrsac Mayor Cedomir Zivkovic and General Hospital Head Sredoje Djuric thanked Popovic on his new donation, pointing out his very significant role in the developmentof the whole town. Djuric wished everyone good luck in the Battle for the Maternity Wards campaign, expressing hope that it campaign would significantly raise the quality of medical care of our youngest citizens in the whole country. B92 Fund Board of Directors President Veran Matic stressed that upon hearing about the follow up of the Battle for the Babies campaign, Popovic immediately responded, expressing desire to donate all the necessary equipment to the maternity ward in his hometown. "Practically at the beginning of the Battle for Maternity Wards we are in a position to show in practice what kind of equipment is deficient in our hospitals. Of course, other hospitals lack other devices, it depends on the capacities and their current needs. The range of the prices for these devices amounts from several hundreds to several dozens of thousands of euros", Matic noted, thanking once again the campaign’s biggest donor. "Mr. Popovic's contribution to the battle for making better conditions in the maternity wards and other medical institutions where the babies spent their first days of life had long time ago exceeded the amount of the donated funds. From the discussion with other donors and potential donors, I have found out that lots of them had joined this battle inspired by his activities and the energy that he invests in offering help to the babies in Serbia. I want every maternity ward in Serbia to be provided with deficient medical equipment, so we need to make the broadest possible front of associates and sponsors around every single maternity ward that will permanently take care of their needs", Matic concluded.
