Incumbent Filip Vujanovic has declared victory in the Montenegrin presidential election last night. At the same time, his four rivals have conceded defeat and congratulated the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) candidate on his reelection. Vujanovic declares victory in Montenegro Vujanovic's election headquarters released data that is nearly identical to that of the Center for Monitoring, CEMI, and said he won over 52 percent of votes, which clinched the victory in the first round. Vujanovic addressed journalists late Sunday to say that he had "won for his country", and called on the "whole Montenegrin nation to unite on the way toward the EU". "This is a victory of all of us," Vujanovic was quoted. He also said he will be the president of "all citizens, regardless of who they voted for", in the new five-year mandate. The party president, and Montenegrin prime minister, Milo Djukanovc, said that Vujanovic's first round victory shows that the DPS leads the right policy which citizens recognize as a "chance for development". Djukanovic thanked the voters who supported his party's candidate and called on the opposition to join the government in its efforts to meet the conditions for Montenegro's EU membership. The three opposition leaders, Nebojsa Medojevic, Srdjan Milic and Andrija Mandic, conceded defeat and congratulated Vujanovic on his victory last night. They all expressed dissatisfaction with the results they achieved in the ballot, but said Montenegro must now turn to development in order to join the EU as soon as possible. Vujanović declares victory in Montenegro

Vujanović's election headquarters released data that is nearly identical to that of the Center for Monitoring, CEMI, and said he won over 52 percent of votes, which clinched the victory in the first round.

Vujanović addressed journalists late Sunday to say that he had "won for his country", and called on the "whole Montenegrin nation to unite on the way toward the EU".

"This is a victory of all of us," Vujanović was quoted.

He also said he will be the president of "all citizens, regardless of who they voted for", in the new five-year mandate.

The party president, and Montenegrin prime minister, Milo Đukanovć, said that Vujanović's first round victory shows that the DPS leads the right policy which citizens recognize as a "chance for development".

Đukanović thanked the voters who supported his party's candidate and called on the opposition to join the government in its efforts to meet the conditions for Montenegro's EU membership.
