KOSOVSKA MITROVICA U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Director Jonathan Moore says the point of the Brussels deal was not recognition of Kosovo. “Recognition of Kosovo as an independent state was not Serbia's obligation or the issue at hand in this agreement, its essence is changing everyone's lives for the better,” the American diplomat told KiM Radio. Recognition of Kosovo “is not essence of agreement” He said the agreement was a big step forward and a great and positive thing for Serbia and Kosovo. “This is the first stage, now comes implementation. There are many details that need to be cleared up in the near future, such as the position of majority Serb municipalities south of the Ibar River. This can be resolved in a day or two through technical dialogue and peaceful means,” noted Moore. Asked to comment on the fact Serb leaders in northern Kosovo had said they would oppose the agreement, Moore said he understood not everyone was happy, and that some other people in Kosovo were also not happy, but that this would change when they realized the agreement would make a better and more stable future possible for all, including the people in the north, and also allow Serbia and Kosovo to proceed with the European integration.
