Recognition is not the essence of the agreement it is the total heart of the agreement! Serbia totally recognized Kosova? Pristina will appoint the police chief and not Belgrade?

Neither Pristina nor Belgrade will appoin the police commander but the kosovo serbs. They will give 3 names to Pristina and then Pristina MUST accept one of those. And there is no recognition whatsoever, no embassies, no diplomats=no recognition.

Yes, you need all EU countries to agree on an entity to become part of the EU, but you don't need them to recognize that entity as a country. Cyprus, for example, has said that they won't recognize Kosovo as a country not that Cyprus will veto Kosovo becoming part of the EU. There are many non-country entities which have been or are part of the EU already. When the time comes, Cyprus will just approve Kosovo being part of the EU with the (*) without recognizing it as a country.

I do not recognise anything the US government says to do with Kosovo or any other damn place else that has nothing to do with the bloody USA, why....because the US government are the biggest corrupt government on the planet and just because they say something is doesn't make it so.

I don't recognise the USA either and will never do so until they have a righteous government in place that doesn't bomb and murder it's way around this world and until they leave every single piece of occupied land and apologise and repay for all the evil they have done thus far.

Oh yes, and all their leaders who are still alive and who are responsible for all the atrocities their armed forces have committed be brought to trial and their murderous troops be prosecuted. Only then will I and millions like me listen to what they say, right now their words are meaningless period!!

The only way you will get a UN seat is if you steal it, put it on a donkey and bring it to Kosovo.
Or if you sell organs from captured serbs to the Chinese and Russians in exchange for a vote in the UN.
A UN seat is just arround the corner for you guys.
(Hank the Tank, 21 April 2013 15:49)

I'm sure Kosovo can live with that. Countries have lived without being a UN member for centuries and have not had any problem with that... In addition, even if Kosovo were to accept Serbia's generous offer of more-than-autonomy-but-less-then-independence, it will not get a UN seat anyway. So the UN seat is a moot point is the discussions between Serbia and Kosovo, but I do certainly understand that it is a useful point for Serbia's populace internal consumption and that's fine. I'm sure Kosovo fully supports Serbia's politians inventing whatever they need to convince their populace that this proposed agreement is a win for Serbia.

“This is the first stage, now comes implementation. There are many details that need to be cleared up in the near future, such as the position of majority Serb municipalities south of the Ibar River. This can be resolved in a day or two through technical dialogue and peaceful means,” noted Moore.

Absolutely, and this is something no one's paying that much attention to. The six already designated municipalities south of the Ibar are now given the chance to have powers and authorities similar to those enjoyed by the north for years. What's more, the ability to join this Assembly of Municipalities removes any real need to do little more than pay empty lip service to Pristina, as they have their own legislative and local executive bodies.

I'm sure the only K-Serbs upset with this are those controlled by DSS, and largely because they fear they'll lose their "privileges" acquired over the years. Not to worry. All they need are guarantees from the EU that all will remain the same in their daily lives if they play along. Of course they'll probably be told to boycott the elections next year, lose their powers, and then blame it on someone else. But whatever, that's DSS for you. The important thing is that 10 municipalities, and possibly an eleventh if the Gorani of Dragas want to join, now have the ability of their own separate government apart from, but not interfering with, the Albanians.

This is a major victory for the Serbian side :)

Well kosovo serbs have to stop being so selfish because the majority of other serbs living in central serbia and vojvodina are happy with the agreement and the state leadership and they want their country to move on and become a normal country, they want jobs, investments, better health care, better standard of living,

Its simply not true that the majority of Serbs in C.Srbija & Vojvodina support this agreement. There have been protests every day for the past couple of weeks both in Belgrade and Novi Sad against capitulating policies.

But regardless of the fact you are wrong, please explain how accepting this "agreement" is going to bring jobs, investments and healthcare? The two things are unrelated because its a myth that becoming an EU candidate/member will result into any of those nice things that you say people want.

No one is presently asking, nor will ask Serbia in the near future to recognize Kosovo's Independence. The actual formal, and "symbolic" recognition will happen' voluntarily by Serbia in 20/30 years, once the warmongers and ultra nationalists are no longer in power.

Now, will this be a big deal? Not really. Kosovo will have a UN seat way before that and the recognition from Serbia will not bear any weight whatsoever.

Marko

things in Kosovo remain unchanged but gives albanians the belief they got something that cannot be implemented in reality.

>> Serbia now gets EU ascension talks. Kosovo loses more authority and gets a promise of something better in the future. Serbia will be in the EU 50 years before Kosovo. If and when Kosovo gets it, Serbia can screw them for more concessions,

OUTCOME.......SERBIA LOSES

>> REAL OUTCOME..... KOSOVO IS SCREWED. I have no idea where you're getting your information from, but you're clearly clueless and in another world.

Recognition is not the essence of the agreement it is the total heart of the agreement! Serbia totally recognized Kosova? Pristina will appoint the police chief and not Belgrade? Only law allowed is pristina law? kosova courts under kosova laws? Not allowed autonomy in any way?

icj1, UN has not been around for centuries :-) In addition, it may not be around for centuries either. Just sayin'...

As far as the "donkey" and "kidney" remarks from our Serb "friend" - no comment!

The remaining EU countries will now recognize Kosovo...Serbia loses
(George, 21 April 2013 17:04)

>> No one has said that. Cyprus stated it won't ever. Spain is not interested. Kosovo might get one or two, but you need all 5 to be considered eligible for the EU...Kosovo loses.

I have nothing against the Serbian populace being told what they like to hear in order to convince them that this agreement is a win for Serbia. I'm sure these guys http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2013&mm=04&dd=19&nav_id=85800 will also buy that at some point just like you and Ari Gold did :)

while your comment is just your typical sarcastic response you hit on the big issue here. Russia and China support for Serbia in blocking a UN seat for Kosovo, is superficial and can at any time change should the right incentives become available.

I wasn't coming to anyone's rescue, Ari, I was making an observation. I stand by it.

As for your weird obsession trying to connect me with Zagreb, I really don't know what to make of it. According to you, I'm from Zagreb; According to Peggy, I'm Albanian. How long until I get to be a Martian?

btw, if you search back a week or so, someone challenged me to prove I live in Belgade by running out and taking some picture and I did so. It was one of these article about this Croats protesting Cyrillic.

Neither Pristina nor Belgrade will appoin the police commander but the kosovo serbs. They will give 3 names to Pristina and then Pristina MUST accept one of those. And there is no recognition whatsoever, no embassies, no diplomats=no recognition.

Here's one for the US state department
