BELGRADE The Serbian government has sent a protest note to the International Telecommunication Union over an assembly resolution of the Kosovo Albanian authorities. The government requesting a halt to the implementation of Pristina's decision on replacing the international phone prefix of Serbia, used by fixed and mobile telephony in Kosovo, with the country code of Albania (355). Resolution "gravest violation" of intl. agreements The government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija believes that the resolution adopted by Pristina's authorities represents the gravest violation of international agreements and standards. The Office also said that this was yet another unilateral move by Pristina which shows that the ethnic Albanian side does not want to resolve debatable issues between Belgrade and Pristina through negotiations. The Serbian government also addressed all relevant international actors in order to prevent Pristina from replacing the area code for Serbia with the one of Albania, a statement by the Office reads. The government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija believes that the resolution adopted by Priština's authorities represents the gravest violation of international agreements and standards.

The Office also said that this was yet another unilateral move by Priština which shows that the ethnic Albanian side does not want to resolve debatable issues between Belgrade and Priština through negotiations.
