The international community's intent has never been a 'Greater Albania'.

Serbia's legitimate response would be war
(Bob, 9 September 2012 23:08)

The international community doesn't like greater Albania. But is Serbia with own politics that is pushing it.
And about the war, you will make not only Albanians laughing but i assure you a lot of Serbian too.

Wire tapping can be done with or without using the domestic prefixes, just ask the US State Dept., that listen's in on phone calls around the world. Let's not be naive. Pristina is just trying so hard to be a nation, but it is not. All the phone codes will not change that. In fact, using Albania's codes, only make it less independent.
(ecoman, 9 September 2012 16:53)

Wire tapping can be done when you get to become the so-called man in the middle. Don't know about the US State Department, maybe they have the resources to be "in the middle" everywhere, good for them, Serbia certainly does not have the resources to do that, unless they have inherited being "in the middle" from old yugoslavia's lines. Anyway, any phone call starting with 381 will go to Serbia's lines first, then depending on the prefix after the 381 be dispatched to Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad or Kosovo. So, it would be very easy for Serbia to wiretap all calls to Kosovo going through its lines. It would have been prudent for Kosovo to have changed this in June 11 1999, not in 2012.

If Kosovo ever attempts to unite with Albania, the international community will have failed. The international community's intent has never been a 'Greater Albania'.

It will not be allowed - just as much as Milosevic was stamped on for trying to create a 'Greater Serbia'; it is not an acceptable route forward.

Serbia's legitimate response would be war - Albanian taking over Kosovo is an invasion/takeover of Serbian land by an adjoining country and Serbia has the absolute right to defend itself.

That is right, wire tapping can be done on land line or mobile phones. But, I would like to remind everybody, that hardly anybody uses PTK land line phones. 90% of Kosova population uses mobile phones, which are Vala &IPKO. I have a PTK phone + Internet connection in my office, but the phone has not been used for not a single call as of today, even though you have 1000 minutes for free per month.
Why didn't Serbia filed any complains with Monaco and Slovenia yet???

Avni

Kosovo uses Monaco's and Slovenia's phone prefix. Haven't seen Serbs protest that. Starving Serbs don't want to lose more money. Albanian money keeps them alive.

You guys realize that this is a trump card to force telecommunications on the agenda at the next meeting. Serbia has been postponing the talks on this subject. Kosovo now has an option where Serbia has to come up with an alternative or agree to let Kosovo have another code besides adding a number. It also boils down to intelligence gathering a phone tapping. Which right now Serbia can do on any call.

Best option would be to let Kosovo have a separate code but guarantee the minorities the option to maintain Serbia's. It's a win win for both sides.

This should have been done long time ago. Having Serbia's prefix means that calls to Kosovo go through Serbia's infrastructures, where they can be intercepted and listened to. I would bet 2 euros that this has happened before.

Did the Serbian government sent a protest note to the International Telecommunication Union when Kosova adopted the Monaco and Slovenian international phone prefixes??

Your complexes of inferiority towards us Albanians are laughable. Any attempt of intra-Albanian cooperation alarms Serbia.

What you Serbs in your maximalist positions fail to understand is that we Albanians already made you the most generous concession we can make: Kosova as independent multiethnic country- the country of Kosovar Albanians and Kosovar Serbs. The most natural solution would be that Kosova unites to her motherland from which was annexed in occupied for decades. Yet you Serbs refuse the compromise.

There is no self-respecting and literate Albanian that would agree with the Albanian northern region to become independent state. Kosova is culturally, linguistically, historically, economically, naturally always been Albanian province for some time under Serbian/Yugoslavian occupation. Why should now that Kosova is finally free be an independent state??? We offered you the independence of Kosova as multiethnic state as compromise. You are refusing it for 13 years now. Well then we shall unite.

What is this irrational fear that you Serbs have if Albanians unite???

Even if we unite Serbia will still have about 2.2 times more land than Albania. Each Serb will still have about 3.2 times more land than an Albanian. And you still play the poor and victim... pathetic.

You comment makes no sense at all. You claim having a lot of respect for Kosova, yet you rather see Kosova using Serbian prefix on land line phones, right!? This is either black or white. I would rather Kosova have its own assigned code, but if not, I prefer Albanian or even Chinese is better than Serbian. Hope you know what I mean.

Kosovo isnt a member of the ITU therefore Kosovo can't have violated any ITU agreements as Kosovo hasn't agreed to anything. Besides doesn't Kosovo already use Slovenia's and Monaco's phone country codes for Mobile phones? Nothing will come of this protest letter. I dare say it'll end up in the shredder.

Danilo

What violation? Nothing happened. Kosovo made a resolution in their parliament for someone else to do something. That something hasn't been done.

Either the Serbian government was caught sleeping at the wheel, or they knew very well this was going to happen and either could not stop it, or had no desire to do so.

Whichever way you look at it, its another fail for the new government's Kosovo policy.

And you will form greater Albania! The question is....what's so great about it? Albania today is barely a country. No human rights, dirty, blood fueds and mafia. It would be better if albanains and the rest of the people in the balkans split.

Although to some extend I used to agree with Kosovars wanting to secede from Serbia I find this move of adopting the country code for Albania a contradiction to their cause and have with this lost all respect for the Kosovar Albanians and for them as a potential nation. Saying this, I also believe that a lot of people who may have supported your cause are now utterly repulsed by this move and in case they weren't they should be.
I ask you; Where is your pride,uh?
You want independence or an annex with Albania?
Its time to make up your mind.

The only negotiation you can expect is to recognize Kosova. Kosova is not Serbian so Serbia dosent have anything to say about the internal issues of Kosova !!

Kosova will unite with Albania today or tomorrow.
