Minister: Wrong to hold meeting in Belgrade

Serbia's Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović has said that it was wrong to hold a meeting of four municipalities from northern Kosovo in Belgrade.

Serbia's Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic has said that it was wrong to hold a meeting of four municipalities from northern Kosovo in Belgrade. He added that it provided more arguments to those who wanted to see parallel institutions in northern Kosovo gone. Minister: Wrong to hold meeting in Belgrade The minister for Kosovo said the meeting benefited those in the international community who wanted the institutions gone, adding that he saw no reason to hold the meeting in Belgrade. “By going to Belgrade, the officials of the four municipalities humiliated the people they represent and provided arguments for those in Pristina who want the parallel institutions in northern Kosovo gone,” he told Zvecan-based Most TV. "If we hold meetings in Belgrade, then why do we need institutions in Kosovo," he wondered. Bogdanovic stressed that the local officials should meet in Kosovo and fight for it there, and not in Belgrade. "This is humiliating for us, which is why the representatives of the Democratic Party (DS) and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), as well as the heads of the Leposavic municipality and the Kosovska Mitrovica district did not attend the meeting," the minister stated. Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Kosovska Mitrovica and Leposavic municipal councilors met in Belgrade Tuesday and demanded more resolute action by the government in defending the national interests in Kosovo. The minister for Kosovo said the meeting benefited those in the international community who wanted the institutions gone, adding that he saw no reason to hold the meeting in Belgrade.

“By going to Belgrade, the officials of the four municipalities humiliated the people they represent and provided arguments for those in Priština who want the parallel institutions in northern Kosovo gone,” he told Zvečan-based Most TV.

"If we hold meetings in Belgrade, then why do we need institutions in Kosovo," he wondered.

Bogdanović stressed that the local officials should meet in Kosovo and fight for it there, and not in Belgrade.
