A statement termed the smuggling attempt as "unusual" and specified that it took place at the Gradina border crossing with Bulgaria.

The goods have been discovered in a bus traveling from Bulgaria to Spain, and have been found in the rear of the vehicle, on the floor, on the seats, "and even in the toilet."

The half a ton of cakes and cookies was packed into 137 boxes, and had no accompanying documentation, the Customs said on Friday.

The bus carried other goods across the border illegally, including sneakers, women's boots, shoes, jackets, "and even 35 fishing lines."
