Serbia supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic stated in Baku on Thursday. Jeremic met with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev to discuss the prospects for economic cooperation between the two countries, the local media reported. "Territorial integrity and state sovereignty are the key elements of all documents of international law, including the UN conventions and the Helsinki Final Act," Jeremic said after the meeting with Mammadyarov. The news agency Trend reported Jeremic's statement that Serbia considers Azerbaijan an excellent partner. "The two countries share positions on many important issues, and both of them accept the supremacy of the principles of international law such as territorial integrity and state sovereignty," Jeremic stressed. Jeremic added that this and the next year will be crucial in the two countries' economic cooperation. Serbia is interested in investing in the development of Azerbaijan's infrastructure, Jeremic said, adding that the Serbian government intends to make serious investments in energy, infrastructure and the banking sector in Azerbaijan. Mammadyarov said that Baku is ready for an overall improvement of relations with Serbia and new cooperation projects. Mammadyarov pointed out that the two countries have high-level relations, and that they have already signed 12 agreements. The Azerbaijani agencies reported that Jeremic arrived on a working visit to Baku on Wednesday, and that he is also planned to confer with Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev.
