Director of the Gracanica Clinical and Hospital Center Stojan Sekulic warned on Thursday that supply of medicines in central Kosovo is running dangerously low. For this reason, only individuals with most urgent health problems, women in labor and patients with most serious diseases are taken on for treatment in this Serb enclave. Shortage of medical supplies in central Kosovo "Our position is getting worse by the day and this is why we seek assistance from competent bodies," Sekulic said and added that patients are being sent to central Serbia or the health-care center in northern Kosovska Mitrovica. He announced that he would discuss this issue with representatives of the Serbian Health Ministry in Belgrade on Friday. Shelves in Gracanica's main pharmacy are almost completely empty and the patients waiting in front of the local health-care center are concerned because of the shortage of medicines in pharmacies and because of the fact that they are forced to buy drugs in Pristina pharmacies and other private drugstores. The shortage of drugs became evident after the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina introduced a ban on the delivery of Serbian goods to Kosovo.
