Serbian government’s Media Office Chief Milivoje Mihajlovic has said that a just solution for Kosovo is a prerequisite for permanent peace. “I am sure that slowly, by solving one problem at the time, we will get to a situation in which even those countries that have recognized Kosovo’s independence and those that haven’t will understand that permanent peace could only be achieved if a just solution is found, and not if you take one or the other side,” he told B92. “Just solution – prerequisite for peace” When asked how difference in Belgrade and Pristina’s opinions regarding parallel institutions in northern Kosovo will affect the dialogue, Mihajlovic said that “it’s nothing new that Pristina and Belgrade have completely different opinions about the same thing” and that it “will affect the dialogue”. “However, there are experts sitting there, people who have a specific task to find the best solution, the safest solution that will provide permanent peace,” he stressed. “We cannot expect the issue of Kosovo to be completely solved at the negotiating table in the continuation of the dialogue on September 2 or in some short period of time. He said he believed that the job would require a great amount of patience and that neither side would give in, adding that the international community would play an important role in the process. Commenting on information that U.S. KFOR troops did not allow a bus carrying northern Kosovo municipal councilors to go through the Jarinje administrative crossing on Tuesday night, Mihajlovic said that “it is obviously some sort of misunderstanding or a bad intention”. “That is a completely insane move, not to allow people living in Kosovo and Metohija to go home. I think that it is probably some big mistake,” he pointed out and added that the international missions would thanks to the incident probably suffer loss of respect among the local Serbs. “KFOR is actually the only international mission in Kosovo and Metohija that Serbs still have some confidence in,” the Media Office head said.
