President of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Rasim Ljajic believes that the remaining Hague fugitive Goran Hadzic will soon be arrested. He told weekly Novi Magazin that he did not know where Hadzic was but that he believed the former political leader of Serb in Croatia he would be arrested soon. “Remaining Hague fugitive will be arrested soon” “All resources were earlier directed at Karadzic and Mladic. I am sure that this is a far easier case than them and he will be in The Hague soon,“ Ljajic was quoted as saying. He called on Hadzic to turn himself in so he would be able to use all the help envisaged by the law, adding that he would not be entitled to that help if he got arrested. “Surrender is the best option both for him and for his family,” Ljajic pointed out. Commenting on Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz’s statement that he would keep “smothering” Serbia until Hadzic was extradited, he said that The Hague had been smothering Serbia all those years even though there was no need for it. “Smothering or not, Serbia has extradited the largest number of indictees, 45 and it will soon extradite Hadzic as well. Therefore, Serbia will fulfill its obligation and end the cooperation with the Tribunal in the best possible way,” the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal president stressed. Speaking about parliamentary elections and the announcement that his Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDP) could take part in the elections together with Mladjan Dinkic’s United Regions of Serbia (URS), Ljajic said that he would talk to all members of the ruling coalition in the fall and discuss the issue. “I think that it is the best to go in three columns, at least that’s what I am going to advocate because I think that we can achieve the maximum result that way and win more mandates than as a large coalition like it has been until now,” he was quoted as saying. According to him, the Democratic Party (DS) would form one column, the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) would be the center of the second and the third would be led by the URS. Ljajic also believes that his party will repeat the result from the previous local elections in Sandzak and win. “I am counting on the same coalition like in the republic elections. Only G17 Plus and the SDP had good results in local elections in Arandjelovac and Bor and I don’t see why we would not repeat that in other towns and Sandzak municipalities,” he told the weekly.
