Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina have announced on Friday that the Middle Eastern state of Oman has recognized Kosovo. Oman is the 75th country to recognize Kosovo's independence, which was unilaterally proclaimed by Kosovo Albanian parliament in Pristina in February 2008. Oman recognizes Kosovo "The Omani authorities informed the Kosovo Eembassy in London about their decision to recognize Kosovo," said a statement in Pristina. Kosovo has so far been recognized by 75 out of 192 United Nations member states. The UDI was recognized by 53 countries in 2008, 11 in 2009, eight in 2010, whereas since the beginning of 2011 three countries announced their recognitions - Oman, Qatar and Guinea-Bissau. The territory itself is unable to join the UN, as the unilateral proclamation was rejected in Belgrade as an illegal act of separatism.
