Markovic was previously criticized by opposition MPs for his handling of the crisis. Cvetkovic noted that the completion of works would be an important success since, if the plans come through, the consequences of the quake that affected over 50,000 people would be eliminated in less than a year. “I believe that these people will not fail me if I promise to you," said the prime minister while at a local construction site, "that by October 1 next year, the construction of prefabricated houses will be completed. This will provide accommodation for everyone." Cvetkovic also noted that he has received information that 104 houses will be completed by 2011. The Serbian government so far allocated RSD 1bn (some EUR 9.5mn) for the purpose. The November 3 earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale, killing two people and injuring 180 others. Cvetkovic also commented on the possibility of a government reshuffle by saying it would not be discussed before next year. “The reshuffle of the government, if there is to be any, will be discussed in January, meaning that no talks about the matter will take place before the New Year,” Cvetkovic said.
