Parliament to meet by end of month

Parliamentary Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said that the next parliamentary meeting will most likely be scheduled before the end of January. “I will talk next week with MP group chiefs, to agree on a new meeting, because I haven’t received any cases for calling a meeting,” Djukic-Dejanovic said. Parliament to meet by end of month She explained that there is no way to call a meeting of the parliament now because it is in a period of emergency sessions. The meeting can be called only if the government sends material for emergency adoption, or if a proposal from 84 MPs is sent. She said that this goes for the final tally of the 2008 budget and the draft law for denationalization. “When one law or one draft is being prepared, by either the government or an individual in a period of regular meetings, I can contact the government, speed up the adoption of the draft law, and put it on the agenda,” Djukic-Dejanovic explained. “However, what I said goes for these laws as well. If it's not an individual, rather 84 MPs or the government proposes an emergency procedure for debating a draft law, I can then schedule a meeting before March 1, which is when the start of the regular sessions are scheduled for,” Djukic-Dejanovic said.
