President Boris Tadic believes that work should be done to remove "obstacles to the visa regime liberalization". After a meeting with deputy PMs and ministers Ivica Dacic, Bozidar Djelic and Snezana Malovic, and the foreign minister's cabinet chief, Borislav Stefanovic, Tadic also advised against making public statements about when the visa regime imposed by the EU might be eased. "Work to remove visa liberalization obstacles" He told reporters in Belgrade on Wednesday that an agreement was reached during the to procure new equipment for issuing Serbia's biometric passports, and to reassign some municipal administration workers to help MUP employees in order to speed up the process. The ministers reported to Tadic on the progress made so far on the visa liberalization front and regarding the fulfillment of obligations from the corresponding "road map". Tadic said that the meetings of the kind will be organized more often. "There are several technical issues that need to be discussed with European Commission representatives in the next several weeks, and I think we can be optimistic," Tadic said. The presidents however added it would be "very good" if "public bidding" of the date when Serbians will be allowed to travel freely would end, and said that work needs to be done in order to solve this "last sanction against the Serbian citizens remaining from the 1990s".
