The Romanian embassy in Belgrade on Wednesday issued a statement confirming this country's commitment to the EU mission in Kosovo. B92 over the weekend carried a Tanjug news agency report, which quoted Ambassador Ion Macovei as telling the International Radio Serbia that his country "will not participate in EULEX for the implementation of the Ahtisaari plan". Romania remains committed to EULEX Today, the top Romanian diplomat in Serbia clarified that the news published on Sunday contained misinterpretations of his statements. “Regarding the news published on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2008, referring to the position of Romania on EULEX, Romania’s ambassador in Belgrade makes the following clarification: Romania is committed to participate in EULEX in accordance with the Joint Action Plan adopted on February 4, 2008,” the statement read.

Today, the top Romanian diplomat in Serbia clarified that the news published on Sunday contained misinterpretations of his statements.

“Regarding the news published on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2008, referring to the position of Romania on EULEX, Romania’s ambassador in Belgrade makes the following clarification: Romania is committed to participate in EULEX in accordance with the Joint Action Plan adopted on February 4, 2008,” the statement read.
