The hearings of the persons suspected of helping to hide Hague indictee Stojan Zupljanin, scheduled to start before a Belgrade court today, have been delayed. Spokeswoman of the Belgrade District Court’s War Crimes Chamer Ivana Ramic said that one of the suspects was excused and allowed not to attend the proceedings. Earlier in the day, she said that the hearings will likely take several days to be completed for all seven of the suspects. Zupljanin helpers hearings postponed According to the law, the investigative judge will then decide on the demand of the War Crimes Prosecution for starting an investigation and remanding the suspects in custody. On October 30, the prosecution submitted its request for a probe against the seven individuals accused of aiding Zupljanin in hiding and proposed that they be remanded in custody. According to the prosecution, the suspects helped the Bosnian Serb fugitive to hide in Novi Sad, Backi Petrovac, Belgrade, Subotica and Pancevo from June 1999 until 2008.
