The delegations of countries participating at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest, which begins on May 20, arrived yesterday. Rehearsals and press conferences for the first 13 semi-finalists begin today. Eurovision entrants begin rehearsals According to Aleksandar Rados, Eurovision head of PR, rehearsals will last until May 18, and will be followed by general rehearsals, that all those who have bought tickets will be able to attend. As many as 92 press conferences will be held before May 18, and accredited media will be able to follow them from the recently opened Press Center at the Sava Centre. More than 2,500 journalists and over 1,000 fans have been given accreditation for this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Rados says. The event will be followed by a total of 200 domestic journalists, as well as those from Europe, Australia, Canada, and India. “This song contest will be historic for many reasons. Along with the fact that there will be two semi finals, we will also have a record number of participants—43 countries—and it will be Belgrade that will welcome Azerbaijan and San Marino for the first time,” he points out. Ten performers from each semi final, to take place on May 20 and 22, will compete in the finals on May 24, together with Eurovision founders Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, and Serbia, as the host nation.
