The Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) will be initialed next week, an EU source told daily Blic. “The SAA will be initialed very soon, probably at the end of week,” claims the same source, saying that progress has been made in Hague cooperation, writes Blic, who add in their sub-heading that Hague Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte’s report will be positive. Reports suggest SAA initialing next week However, the paper was unable to ascertain whether there was any actual operation that Del Ponte was basing her positive evaluation on in the report she is due to submit to European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn. But, according to Hague Tribunal spokeswoman Olga Kavran, the chief prosecutor has been in constant telephone contact with Rehn. “The report has yet to be put together. Nor will it be written. Rather, it’s a collection of everything that’s been achieved over the last few days,” Kavran told Blic. Rehn and Del Ponte have agreed to be in touch for a final consultation before the European Commission publishes its progress report on prospective EU member-states - among them, Serbia - on November 6. According to Blic’s source, Del Ponte will then give the final green light for initialing the agreement. However, she will continue to demand the support of the international community and the EU in setting full Hague cooperation – implying the arrest of all the Hague fugitives, primarily, Ratko Mladic – as a condition for ultimately signing the SAA, says the paper.
