Austrian A-Tec CEO Mirko Kovacs says his company is still interested in purchasing RTB Bor, but it all depends on the Serbian government. “I am still interested in buying RTB Bor, but it does not depend on me and my company,” said Kovacs at the official opening of the Equipment and Parts Factory (FOD) in Bor, which became part of the A-TEC group today. A-TEC still interested in RTB Bor Kovacs said that the company’s main priority was environmental protection, which A-TEC would devote particular attention to if it ultimately purchased RTB. “That cannot happen over night, but it can in a few years,” he said. Speaking of FOD Bor’s plans, Kovacs promised that it would become a modern and profitable company, adding that an agreement had already been signed with domestic companies, and that the first orders had been received. A-TEC bought FOD in April at a tender for about EUR 2.6mn. The factory works with generators and motors for thermo- and hydro-electric plants. The A-TEC boss said that he was pleased that FOD had become RTB’s neighbor, since they were located fairly nearby. He added that the A-TEC group’s copper output had increased thanks to new factories in Austria, Slovakia and France. “This year copper production will reach about 200,000 tones,” Kovac said, adding that four years ago production had been about 60,000-70,000 tons. He said that A-TEC had invested EUR 70mn in copper-related ventures.
