Refugees have medical care, epidemiological situation stable
After a meeting with representatives of health care institutions, Panajotovic told journalists that the increasing number of migrants arriving in the country requires more medical teams, but also more funding, adding that the system is ready to provide the migrants with adequate medical care. The assistant minister also said that the Ministry expects assistance from the UNHCR, the Red Cross and other organizations, stressing that the number of pregnant women and women with children is also increasing.
"We are monitoring the situation and getting ready for a worsening of weather conditions. We expect a greater number of infections and are ready to make it possible for migrants to be admitted to hospitals if needed," he said. However, Panajatovic added, Serbia needs more money in order to improve the conditions for the treatment of migrants in the field and for more medicines.
