The video, only a few seconds long, was broadcast "following pressure from the public," Tanjug reported on Monday and added that "for some unknown reason, HRT ended the broadcast on Saturday evening just before the beginning of medals ceremony, a move that has provoked reactions in both Serbia and Croatia."

Dejan Jovic, professor at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb and representative of the Serb National Council in Croatia - and former adviser to former Croatian President Ivo Josipovic - wrote on Facebook:

"Another huge disgrace. They are ready to humiliate the Croatian national team, which won the silver medal, just so we can't see the Serbs as the winners. HRT, of course, supposes that none of its subscribers support Serbia. And much less that there are those that care for both teams."

According to Tanjug, Zagreb-based daily Vecernji List wrote that "the celebration of the Serbian water polo team was somewhat spoiled by HRT's not broadcasting the medals ceremony."

"This has angered the Serbian media and representatives of Serbs in Croatia, making them sent protest notes to HRT," the daily said, according to the Serbian agency.

During and after the match on Saturday both teams behaved in a sportsmanlike manner, while the coaches engaged in a friendly greeting at the end.
